Mark Cederborg ’73 died Sept. 29, 2025, at the age of 74. A Seattle Pacific University Board of Trustee member and proud SPU alumnus, Mark lived a life of servant leadership, and his life embodied Christ-centered integrity, generosity, and compassion.
Born in Oakland, California, Mark and his twin sister, Miriam Cederborg Montessoro ’73, were the first of four Cederborg siblings to attend Seattle Pacific — beginning a family legacy rooted deeply in faith and education.
Active as a Seattle Pacific student, he was a member of the men’s service organization, Centurions. After graduating, he earned a law degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and built a successful career in estate planning, probate, and trust administration. He was the co-founder of Cederborg & Bret LLP.
Mark served Seattle Pacific as a long-time Seattle Pacific Foundation Board member beginning in 2008; he also served as secretary of the SPU Board of Trustees. In 2013, he was honored with the Centurion’s annual SPU’s Roy Swanstrom Distinguished Service Award.
“Mark led with humility, faith, and a steadfast commitment to the mission of Seattle Pacific,” said SPU President Deana Porterfield. “His wisdom and servant heart strengthened our University and blessed countless students and families. We are profoundly grateful for his life and legacy.”
Predeceased by his brother, Timothy, Mark is survived by his wife, Darlene, two stepdaughters, three grandchildren, his siblings, Lydia, Margaret, Miriam, Ruth Cederborg Gess ’75, and Dan Cederborg ’82, as well as other extended family members.
