SHAUN MCMICHAEL ’09, MAT ’16 will have his novel, Whistle Punk Falls, released in hardcover by Street Legal Cinema in September 2026. A coming-of-age novel set during the psychological and economic collapse of 2009 Aberdeen, Washington, this book explores friendship, mental illness, and intergenerational trauma that shapes us. His novel was previously published by Alternative Books Press in August 2025. Shaun also wrote a book of poetry, Jack of All (New Meridian Arts, 2024) and The Wild Familiar (Cowboy Jamboree Press, 2024), a book of short stories. He is a longtime educator and writing coach to incarcerated and institutionalized populations, and he and his wife, KAITLIN NUNN MCMICHAEL ’09, live in Seattle.
