SPU greenhouse in Eaton Hall

SPU’s greenhouse was specifically designed for Eaton Hall when it was built to serve as a research laboratory and teaching space for biology and other science courses. The fully automated greenhouse has computer-controlled shades, vents, and watering systems that maintain consistent temperature, humidity, light, and soil moisture levels. The light-filled space is home to about 200 varieties of plants, from cacti and palms to bromeliads and water lilies. as well as a few rare species.

Tim Nelson, dean of the College of Applied and Natural Science and manager of the greenhouse, takes us on a tour. (Video shot by Greg Torres, Class of 2026, and edited by Quinton Pho, Class of 2027.)
