Nursing major 2013
A registered nurse at the University of Washington Medical Center, Boone enjoys her work with transplant patients, especially seeing them receive an “unimaginable” and “beautiful” chance for new life.
She has gotten the opportunity to do a lot of international travel since graduation and is excited to travel to Cambodia in the fall to help educate and empower ICU nurses there.
How does your time at SPU connect to the work you’re doing today?
My time at SPU was an incredible experience in which I was able to learn about intentionality, the importance of asking good questions, and both the deep pain and joy in this world.
Who made a difference in your SPU education?
During my time in the nursing program, Carol McFarland was a daily presence of prayer, a wealth of knowledge, and when it came time for job-hunting was intentional to help me navigate the uncertain road.
What advice do you have for students about life after graduation?
Life after graduation is a rich time to continue to ask the valuable questions of “Who am I?” and “What do I desire?” Ask those questions boldly, seek God continually, and find the joy, love, and peace that awaits.
