With a degree in biology, Daining and his wife started their own dental practice in Lynnwood, Washington, called Crosspoint Dental Center. Daining says they strive to serve their patients with the love of Christ. In addition to their dental practice, the Dainings volunteer locally with Medical Teams International, an organization that brings its mobile dental clinics to nonprofits all around the Puget Sound area.

How does your time at SPU connect to the work you’re doing today?

I received a phenomenal education at SPU and appreciated it even more as a dental student at the University of Michigan. My science background made the coursework much easier and allowed me to thrive in my dental studies. I am thankful to SPU for shaping me into the person I am today.

Who made a difference in your SPU education?

The SPU faculty member who made the biggest impact on my education and life was chemistry professor Dr. Larry Gulberg. He taught me inorganic chemistry at SPU and we have kept in touch ever since my graduation. Dr. Gulberg is now my dental patient so that must mean he trusts in the knowledge he has instilled in me!

What advice do you have for students about life after graduation?

Have a vision and set lofty goals for who you want to be. Pray for wisdom and have confidence in God’s will for your life.
