Kevin Johnson hanging from a basketball hoop

Even in baby pictures, senior Kevin Johnson grips a basketball. But during his senior year of high school, he turned down two offers to play college ball, in order to “focus on studies.” He chose Seattle Pacific, where he felt encouraged in his faith and academics, and never had to leave sports behind while pursuing a business administration degree. (Thank you, Intramural Program!) Then one day, he got a call from the head basketball coach. The coach had seen Johnson play intramurals, and offered him a spot on the men’s basketball team. “I’m so thankful he reached out,” Johnson says. “I didn’t realize how much being on a team meant to me.”

Kevin’s been active in both SPU Athletics and the Intramurals program. Here’s a look at the types of sports available at SPU.
