How does your time at SPU connect to the work you’re doing today?

At SPU, I majored in sociology, and I minored in business and history. I also started my first company while attending SPU. This well-rounded approach has given me invaluable experience relating both to human needs, as well as business management. I now run my own business that focuses on making the world a better place, and my time at SPU gave me incredibly valuable guidance toward this career.

Who made a difference in your SPU education?

Sociology professors, Dr. David Diekema and David Caddell, were huge in my personal development during my time at SPU. Their teaching encouraged my interest in looking at people in a new way, and I also felt encouraged to continue to learn and re-examine my preconceived notions through the way they taught. Every intellectual curiosity and question was welcomed by both of them.

What advice do you have for students about life after graduation?

After graduation do whatever you’d like to! Don’t look for something you “have” to do. The possibilities are endless and the risks are low at this time in your life.
