As the head of marketing and public relations for Casablanca Bridal, one of the leading manufacturers of high quality wedding gowns, Pratt is in charge of promoting the voice and image of their brand. She wears many hats, but one of her main tasks involves developing programs and incentives to assist the small-business retailers that stock the gowns. She also tells bridal stories in print and digital media, and shares them via social media.

How does your time at SPU connect to the work you’re doing today?

I am so grateful for the foundation that equipped me to get to this point. To be working in marketing and PR for a fashion manufacturer after completing a degree in fashion merchandising and communications feels like such a direct correlation. However, beyond just the educational aspect was the environment in which it was framed. Studying these fields from a faith-based perspective encouraged me to seek out work where I would be making a difference and impacting the world in some way, rather than just clocking time. As I sat in my interview with Casablanca Bridal being told by the owners that they felt like I was the answer to their prayers, it really all felt like it had come full circle, and that is such a great feeling.

Who made a difference in your SPU education?

Dr. Jaeil Lee runs the fashion program with extremely high standards and commands a level of respect that makes it impossible for her students to give anything but their best efforts. Her extraordinary commitment to having a personal relationship with each of her students in order to help best mentor and push them was such a key element of my educational experience.

What advice do you have for students about life after graduation?

We do not direct our own paths — they are laid out before us to provide us with opportunities that are greater than our imagination or the goals we set. We must be flexible in our desires and goals enough to be open to where we are being led, because sometimes the best opportunities just may come where we least expect them.
